CitiField home of the NY Mets baseball team, is turning it’s diamond over to rock and roll this weekend. First on the agenda: The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and the Eagles on SATURDAY. The music recharges SUNDAY with the killer lineup of Earth Wind and Fire, followed by (my personal favorites) Journey and wrapping up the all-star weekend — Fleetwood Mac. I’ll be bringing you highlights from Sunday’s show from the photo pit.
I’ve seen Journey too many times to count. Also had a great interview with the entire band last summer at their tour stop in Holmdel, NJ at the PNC Arts Center. Arnel Pineda is such a sweet guy. If I had a dollar for the number of times people have said, “Well he’s great, yeah, but he’s not Steve Perry” I’d be taking ALL of you out on a yacht tonight. I understand the sentiment, I really do. Besides Bono, there’s no performer I’d rather sit down and talk with than Perry. BUT, Pineda’s been in Journey even longer than Perry. And though things started out a little shaky, (check out the documentary Don’t Stop Believin’)the guys have grown to adore him — and more importantly, respect him.
If you’re in the NYC area this weekend, grab some tickets and head to CitiField in Queens for what promises to be a classic weekend, in all sense of the word.
Have a great weekend, I certainly will!
